I'll explain why Mashable's "Follow" video is a great trend setting via the four bullets above with the rest of my posts below, using my multiple twitter accounts because:
1) I want to see if my tweets carry the message.
2) I'm wanting to prove to myself at least, I know what I'm doing with those multiple twitter accounts.
3) I want to share my excitement and passion about what's emerging with social media: community and connection and transparency = authentic voice, and
4) I want to share my love of video, with tools and the YouTube platform that make it easier and easier. (iPad2 video editing, iPhone capture, HD cameras as small as can be.)
The impetus for all this was via the WCCC Business to Business Expo, 2011, yesterday. I was happy to meet @AstralRoad1 Founder Rich Fahle, formerly in Marketing with Borders & on the ground floor with the EXPLOSION of video. He was on a panel and also presented a video session. Stay tuned, there will be more to come!
Custom internet also comes through applications like this via twitter tweets sent to me on my business twitter account @RevelnConsults:
Some of my other tweets from the #b2bexpo event yesterday,
RT @RevelnConsults: Trends: Integration Liquid Internet adaptation to your interests Agree it's really cool, not creepy. #b2bexpo
I'll now demonstrate playing with the niches of my four twitter personas via discussing my learning per Rich Fahle @ AstralRoad and Astral Road Brand Media
My Four Twitter personas talk about Trends circa 2011:
The new teleclass in Social Media has filled to max via word of mouth and my on-line info, helped by my basic skills in video, starting with iPhone videos that evolved to HD video (my brand new teleclass page with my story) using my new Lumix video camera (the size of the iPhones stacked on each other, that I carry it in my purse).
2. My more informal @dnrevel persona, is my oldest. I engage in more banter here. I sometimes challenge my community connections from time to time, all in the spirit of community. I believe conflict is neutral, is BEST handled NOT in social media. I've experienced it two times in twitter in ways I think were less than helpful or genuine, more ego driven. If there's fun, banter, the occasional conflict or exploration of something very new, , @dnrevel may be the persona on the scene.
3. My business persona is@RevelnConsults. I use the @RevelnConsults feed on my Reveln Consulting Wordpresswebsite. RC had a bit to say about my video experience with @AstralRoad1 's presentation yesterday. I was so glad I stayed & attended Rich's late afternoon session. It was very worthwhile!
Video is premium delivery for authenticity. SEO loves video. Tell your story, naturally. 65% recall rate. #b2bexpo @AstralRoad1 #SMCC1
Note the different sources I use for my tweeting above, Facebook and my iPad. I'm actually tweeting this blog post from Facebook and integrating it onto my front page website at the same time.
4. My special niche for my business consulting is Change Management. Therefore I tweet from @ChangeTools. Ron is a business partner who tweets from @ChangeResults. I like his title better. Too bad I can't steal it. :-)
Four Trends at once: Mashable "Follow" and Liquid Internet, via Multiple Twitter Accounts | Revelnnovation http://ow.ly/4cGbx
USING MULTIPLE TWITTER accounts:
I will sometimes retweet myself, attempting to do it at different times, per @CharlieCurve's good recommendations. I've posted his video below about using multiple twitter accounts well. Lesson learned!! Charlie's videos are a GREAT example of how to use video well!
And here's @CharlieCurve's video on using multiple twitter accounts:
Deb: Sachin, a founder of Posterous, a stunningly useful and easy mini-blogging platform, has written his version of a trend spotting piece on the place of innovation post iPad release. His comments and the ensuing commentary on his post stirred up and updated my thinking quite a bit, including rethinking the ubiquity of internet search. It also stirred up a good bit of controversy. Here are a few highlights from two of his recent, connected posts and some commentary:

The web is great as a generic platform for consuming flat, static content, but isn't good for anything rich...

We will see a decline in web traffic and search in the coming years...

Browsers aren't innovating. They are just trying to comply with standards...

It's the new, small platforms (apps) that innovate the most and keep the big guys on their toes. (Sachin, comments)

...if the web platform loses any market share at all, Google stands to lose the most. That's why I think they will lead innovation.

Here's a snippet of his first post.
When GMail launched in 2004, it took one step forward and 10 steps backwards from the mail application I was using. Even today, the major features GMail is releasing are simply trying to match the features I've had on the desktop for years.
I think this is the tipping point for the web. The modern web had over 10 years to reach parity with desktop applications, and it couldn't even hit that. Now it faces extinction as innovation in native applications accelerates.
“When copies are super abundant, they become worthless. When copies are super abundant, stuff which can’t be copied becomes scarce and valuable.” — Kevin Kelly

Excerpted from: The Dying Art Of Design By Francisco Inchauste
...Taking a close look at the current state of design, we can see that sometimes modern design tools and processes do more harm than good.
...comparing the iPhone to the subsequent copycat phones that failed... Simple imitation completely misses the point of what made the original great. Some phone makers, including HTC, wound up being sued by Apple for patent infringement. This goes back to how we use the design tools and learning resources available to us. There needs to be an element of intention and a deeper understanding first. .
..Design is not a commodity, but the more that designers use freebies and the like, the more it will become one. The Web is just a large copy machine, as Kevin Kelley puts it. Design seems to be going down this road, too. Even...design blogs themselves—are clones of each other.
No wonder many clients see the designer’s role as being to create eye candy or a beautiful “skin.” With this view prevalent, designers will never be considered people who can solve problems for businesses...We will simply be a mindless pair of hands that knows how to apply some trendy colors and glossy effects to make things look nice. ...If design becomes irrelevant, then at some point we may be, too.
Return to the Art of Design
The solution is not to never read this type of content or to use these assets, but it needs to be measured. Designers need to push themselves with the fundamental craft of design.
